Thought for the day

People in relatively poor states like Utah that take more federal tax dollars than they pay in should seriously think twice before calling for bloody revolution to "take back" America from the evil immoral blue states that are paying more in federal taxes than they get back. Somehow, I don't see Utah losing it's taste for shiny new $200 million airports that only have flights to Salt Lake City any time soon.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you...

I think the first thing Utahns should do is close the borders. Make sure that no physical or electronic traffic can cross the borders through the hated U.S.

Then the U.S. can close their airspace to Utahn traffic.

Then Utah can feed, cloth and employ itself as well as pay for its own airports.

Seccession would be over in about ten minutes.

Yup- the large family with lots of dependents to paying taxpayer ratio here is so out of whack that we're now on course to have an $850,000,000 deficit for a state of 2.5 million people. Of course this being Utah, the rallying cry is to raise an additional $100,000,000 by raising the tax on alcohol to 160%. Which will just force all us "heathens" to stop buying at the state liquor stores altogether and go out of state for our libations.

So... you're *promoting* a double-standard? They should look the other way because they are the beneficiaries of the funds?

Read my post again, you misunderstood my point.
I'm not "promoting" anything, Darrel.
I'm suggesting that Utahns have a double standard when it comes to pork, and they are misinformed when they think they are supporting California.
People in Utah do look the other way when they are beneficiaries... hence, the low turnouts at local elections and crowing about how we "need" these airports and sports complexes and billion dollar pipelines.

Frankly, I'm tired of the piggies at the trough complaining about the taste of the food. And our local politicians who are poised for re-election are calling that $200 million dollar airport a "gift" because you paid for it and they didn't. that's how deep the local call for revolution actually goes.

The 9-12 events in Salt Lake were headed by members of the Utah Eagle Forum whose main goals are getting religion back in schools, and the like. It's primarily a social call for revolution against amoral people and atheists and evil Californians. Whose money they happen to take as they revile them openly.
